Chloe Newcomer is a student currently attending Cleveland Institute of Art majoring in Drawing. Chloe discovered her interest in Art in middle school but did not fully embrace it until high school. She likes to practice surrealism in her work. She's always liked the movement because it resembles a fractured reality she finds comfort in. She does not use much color in her art, however that is changing. As she got more comfortable with colors, she's now experimenting with them and how they can change people's view of the pieces. The materials Chloe uses to get these colors are, gouache, prisma color pencils, posca paint markers, and acrylic paints. These materials have always been favored by Chloe since she's very confident in her abilities to use them. Chloe hopes to further her art experience and skills as she comes closer to graduation as she also hopes to strengthen her hold on her art style and to become more confident. Her style is semi realistic, sketchy, with duller colors. She also likes to involve textures in her work and along with 3D elements as of late. With her new found love of three dimensional works this will help her along with becoming a confident artist.

For this class, Chloe’s work is responding to Climbing Rosebush (2005) by Valerie Hegarty!
