jaZZee roZier

Jazzee Rozier is a Junior attending the Cleveland Institute of Art and expects to obtain their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing in 2025. They are born and raised in Cleveland, OH and use their daily surroundings to tell their story of being black and queer through drawing, photography and collage to sculpture, design, and printmaking. Aside from drawing, Jazzee also spends their time leading the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Black Scholars and Artists club to continue their community-based direction as a person who makes community/politically centered art. Rozier also finds themself being able to spread their messages through exhibitions in Cleveland as well as receiving various scholarships based on their artistic performance. Sticking to one solid form to express themself just isn’t on brand for their practice and they hope that there is room to depict such spontaneity and mixed media in their projects to follow what they’ve already been accomplishing in the studio.

For this class exhibition, Jazzee’s work responds to Sumer #1, Sumer #12 (1996) by Larry Bell!
